The Girl In the Band

The Girl In The Band

A waitress buys me a drink
With a note and a wink
I take a sip and I think is someone makiní fun of me?
The drummer counts to six
With a twirl of his sticks
Its one snare shot and a kick and sheís standing in front of me
Her smile fills the room
As she lifts her voice to the moon
And I swoon as she raises her hand

I want the girl in the band
Keep it quiet now
Everybody knows anyhow
Iím more than a fan
I want the girl in the band

Iím biding my time
Between the riddle and rhyme
Till her eye catches mine third line of the second verse
I watch my partner fade
Into the charade
Till I think the parade that Iíve madeís getting better
Not getting worse
Iím on the dance floor holding my own
Until her lips kiss the microphone
My situation at homeís getting way out of hand

I want the girl in the band
Keep it quiet now
Everybody knows anyhow
Iím more than a fan
I want the girl in the band

These boots they will be worn again
This oath it will be sworn again
You are religion and Iím being born again

I want the girl in the band
Keep it quiet now
Everybody knows anyhow
Iím more than a fan
I want the girl in the band
